Chief Adviser Inspects Former Secret Prisons in Dhaka

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus visited three locations in Dhaka that were once used as secret prisons, known as Aynaghor. The visit took place on Wednesday, 12 February 2025.

According to the Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, these places were previously used for illegal detentions and torture. The locations are in Agargaon, Kachukhet, and Uttara.
Professor Yunus was accompanied by members of the advisory council, representatives from the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, victims, and journalists from both local and international media.
During the visit, the Chief Adviser spoke with some of the victims and their families.
He assured them that the government is committed to uncovering the truth about past enforced disappearances and bringing justice to the victims.
The visit marks a significant step in addressing the concerns surrounding human rights violations in Bangladesh. Authorities are expected to take further action based on the findings of the visit.
