News Area: Dhaka

A human rights organization, the Council Against Injustice (CAI), staged a demonstration in front of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-1 headquarters in Uttara, Dhaka, demanding the disclosure of alleged “torture chambers” and justice for victims of enforced disappearances during the previous government’s tenure.

The protest began at 4:00 PM on Friday, February 7, with 30-40 leaders and activists of CAI participating.

The demonstration was led by the organization’s convener, Sher Muhammad Saeed Tamim, along with joint conveners Md. Rizwan and Shah Jamal Sajib.

During the protest, CAI leaders called for the withdrawal of all false cases filed by RAB, proper rehabilitation and compensation for victims of enforced disappearances and their families, and the establishment of a speedy trial tribunal to address cases of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and human rights violations.

The protest underscores growing public demands for accountability and transparency regarding alleged human rights abuses by law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh.
